Self Knowledge is the Beginning of Self Improvement.

I am doing my Happy dance tonight! I finally got under 208! I knew if I was consistent another week with my tracking and exercise that it would pay off. I lost 2.4 down to 206.8. I have now lost 46.2 pounds (but since starting Weight Watchers it is 42.2) Another 2.8 to go and I will be wearing that new shirt I bought last week!
First I have to tell you that our Weight Watchers meeting has moved locations for the next few weeks while they get a makeover on the center. However you will not believe what it has moved next to..    Papa Johns    Pizza.  Now if that isn't funny,Weight Watcher next to the pizza shop, temptation right on your front door step! Yes Nicole and I did go in, we had to buy a diet coke cause it was so hot in the Weight Watchers room.
The meeting to night was very good I seriously felt that the topic choice was just for me.
The topic was about using the skill, Self Monitoring- (to watch, keep track of, check, usually for special purpose) How by monitoring yourself it helps you take control and enjoy success and remain motivated.
There are several different things besides the number on the scale that we should monitor. Cause we all know that number on the scale does not define who any of us are. I know that 206.8 is not stamped on my head for everyone to see what I weigh (it may be posted here but not stamped on my forehead)
I have several different things that I monitor.
My exercise, I have a journal that I have how heavy of weights I have lifted on weight days and what exercises I have done. On cardio days I monitor what my average heart rate is, how many miles I have gone and how long it took me.
I monitor my Weight, my Body Fat, my Lean Muscle Mass, my Total Body Water, my BMI (body mass index) my PBF (percent of body fat) I even know how much lean muscle each arm, leg and my trunk have.
I monitor my measurements - slowly going down not always in the places I want it to go.
I guess in a way with all the tracking and journals I have I track my setbacks and plateaus too.  In looking back through them I see that on the average I have 3 weeks in a row that I will lose and then a week I will gain.  So I guess I shouldn't let those weeks of having a small gain mess up the hard work I have done. I think that is what I am learning now, to try not to be so emotional over that number on the scale, after all this isn't a race. I have chosen this to be my lifestyle. I liked what Kris had to say tonight about how we can control so many parts of your weight loss journey, what you eat, how much you exercise, etc. but all of those things that you do have control over the one thing we can't control is the results on the scale, that is so true because the past four weeks I have probably track closer then I ever have and was sure I would have a loss last week and I had a gain.  So see self monitoring has made me aware of some of my body's patterns so if my pattern is consistent next week I should have a loss and be one step closer to my goal.

Congrats on your loss! And I'm very impressed with all the different things you track. That takes a lot of time and effort, you inspire me. Thanks!

You hit the nail right on the head! Could not have said it better myself. I have a question though. Where do you go to exercise? Where is it that you can track ALL those things. Do you have a trainer or a doctor? Those things are awesome to track but I have no idea how to. Can you either text or call my cell and tell me where you go? My cell is with Verizon and here's the #599-7356. Thank you Julie and every week I see less and less of you. I really DO notice you are losing and looking good. Good job!

Sam, Thanks!
Lesia, I work for Regence BlueCross BlueShield, we have a gym in our office and a trainer. I had been using a personal trainer Sept-Feb.
We have a scale in the gym that measures your body fat, lean muscle down to each arm. I have one at home I bought from my trainer that just measures your weight, body fat and total body water. And as far as how I track it all, I have filled 3 eight week journals that I had got from my trainer for my exercise. Now I just use a small notebook to track it all. I mainly track the weights I lift so I know how heavy I am using from week to week. And thanks for noticing less of me. You keep up the good work too.
Quay, I am going to try to find a cooler spot to sit next week. LOL
